Totally agree with you – HVAC here really is one of those industries that’s just gotten away with doing the bare minimum for way too long. The bar is low, and that’s exactly why there’s a huge gap for someone to come in and shake things up.
The cool thing is the tools to fix this already exist. Imagine being able to:
- Get a quote instantly online or through an app instead of playing phone tag.
- Actually see when your tech is coming (like food delivery tracking) and get real-time updates if they’re running late.
- Have a full service history of your equipment, so the next tech knows exactly what’s been done and when.
- Offer preventative maintenance plans so customers aren’t stuck in an emergency when the AC dies in July.
- Bring in smart thermostat installs and upsell smart home integrations while you’re there.
- Have a real feedback system where customers rate techs and see transparent pricing – that alone would blow people’s minds here.
Start with HVAC, get a killer reputation, and then you could easily roll that same system into other trades that are just as bad – plumbing, pest control, pool services, landscaping, you name it. Build one strong, trustworthy brand and start acquiring other small operators.
Cayman’s small enough that word-of-mouth spreads like wildfire. Do the basics right – show up on time, communicate well, and charge fairly – and you’d own the market pretty quickly. Once it’s dialed in, you could even replicate it across other islands with similar problems.
Honestly, people here are desperate for reliability and transparency. Whoever nails that combo will clean up.
