Avoid Britcay if you're looking for Cayman auto insurance!

I was in a car accident about 7 months ago. Unfortunately I was hit from behind and my vehicle sustained quite a bit of damage. Rather than paying me out fair market value Britcay my insurance company opted to have the car repaired. The time it took them to come to the decision of whether move forward with the repairs too months. I was offered a rental vehicle while mine was being repaired. This was however a rather inferior vehicle to the one being repaired. Now we're 7 months into the process and I still don't have my vehicle back.

One of the main frustrations during this process was the poor communication with the company and lack of responsiveness. Dealing with Britcay has been incredibly stressful and time consuming even just to get an answer on the status of the repairs.

I highly recommend avoiding Britcay. I still have 3 vehicles with them but as soon as I get my car back I will be switching to Island Heritage which from the countless people I've spoken with have recommended.

Just to note I've spoken with many other Caymanians and expats here on island and they all say the same thing about how terrible of company Britcay is to deal with (at least for auto insurance). Shop around and compare policies with other providers if you're looking to get auto insurance in Cayman.

Unfortunate as Britcay used to be a good insurer on island. I think you'll be in good hands if you switch to Island Heritage. But keep in mind all insurance companies are in business for their own benefit. After all it is a business they run. So to some degree they're all going to suck!

I've heard from numerous locals in Cayman that Britcay should be avoided for auto insurance for reasons like this. They were once a decent company so it's sad to hear stories like this. This is what happens when companies get too big! @livingcayman you should register a complaint which you can do on the Britcay website if you want to escalate this. If you're dealing with a claims officer they generally don't have the authority to do anything meaningful. If that doesn't work out you may look to take legal action against Britcay.

CG Coralisle (aka Britcay) are notoriously bad. Anyone can see that by the sheer number of poor reviews and ratings given to this company on google reviews and other like platforms.

My experience with them is not that much different to that of yours @livingcayman. My fairly new Audi was in an accident in January and now we're in August with no clear indication as to when I'd get my car back. First it was one thing and then another with more and more delays. The claim officer I was dealing with as well was terrible and unresponsive. Sometimes it would take 2 weeks before I'd hear back to them. I just really hope a whole year doesn't pass before I get my car back which has a) depreciated in value in the over half year of lost time and usage for me and b) cost me money because Britcay encouraged me to continue paying for the policy.

Absolutely bonkers that a company can conduct themselves like this. One other thing I have to tell you the dealerships in Cayman are also to blame here IMHO. Craig Arch would be turning over in his grave right now if he knew how Car City (who bought Arch Automotive) are running his business. Really sad the whole thing actually.
