You've hit the nail on the head. I see this all the time even in cases where you have super wide parking spaces and there's no excuse not to be able to park properly.
Like you say it's not hard especially because the fancy cars like you mention all have built in cameras. It's almost like people do it on purpose so that no one parks beside their fancy cars in the first place. Perhaps because they're worried they'll get scratched or dinged up.
I think that Cayman Marl Road used to have a section that ousted people for this kind of think and used to post pictures 😆. In those cases I think it was more because they were parking in handicap spaces though.
