mirv777 Hey everyone! I’m traveling to Grand Cayman soon, and I want to try some authentic local dishes. Can anyone recommend affordable spots to get real Caymanian cuisine? Also open to any hidden gems that tourists might not know about! :
sildarrio mirv777 It’s not necessarily turtle soup or Caymans national food but some good jerk is definitely worth it. For Jerk I like to go to Peppers. It’s also nice as most of the seating is outside. The food is good and it’s always pretty busy so it’s fresh.
admin Believe it or not although turtles are super protected here in Cayman the national dish is stewed turtle. If that's the type of thing that you're after then you might like to give it a try. Personally I've never tried it and not sure that I would. There are a few places here on island that offer stewed turtle one of which is Brasserie one of my favourite restaurants on island. If I were to eat turtle it would probably be here. They don't have it all the time though so I'd call them if I were you if you'd be interested in trying it to make sure. The other place to check out would be Cracked Conch which might also serve it.
